212 in action
in business..."I run a branch of a technical recruiting team and sales people. We are a $28 Million group that has really been working hard in this tough economy and technical slow down. The 212 message is appropriate for our team because it really takes the extra degree to make sales happen in this economy compared to the past. To help the 212 message live, I bought a red tea kettle and painted 212 on both sides along with our company name and the year. This kettle represents the extra degree that it takes to be extra successful in this economy. In our team meeting each week someone passes off the kettle to a person that exhibits the 'extra degree' of performance. The team has really bought into the idea and each winner fills the kettle with candy or prizes and hands it off in our weekly meeting with a quick recap of the new recipients accomplishments to deserve the kettle. Then the winner keeps the kettle open and available on their desk with the candy for anyone to have. The kettle's presence is a constant reminder for all of us to put in the extra degree of effort. My thought is to have a vote at the end of the year to award the kettle to the most deserving 212 person in the office to keep on their 'trophy' chest." in sports..."When my niece's volleyball team prepared to go to play at the state tournament, we made them little 'enthusiasm' bags with treats that meant something in them. For instance, we had "extra" gum for giving a little extra... The outside of the bag had a big 212 on it. It was a great motivational thing for them to read on the bus on the way to the tournament. (They were junior high students, and I'm sure they will remember 212 for the rest of their careers.) Their coach thought it would make a great reminder call during a game. When they weren't focusing or pushing, she would tell them... 212." at home...“I have a square glass votive candle holder in the center of my dining room table. I cut small pieces of paper that would fit on each side and wrote out the 212 ideas for the month. My children take turns rotating the square so they have different ideas facing them. I know they read the idea in front of them (except the 2 year old) and I believe that over time these ideas tend to sink in and become part of their way of operating, without me nagging. It seems to be working - there is a lot less complaining!” do you have a unique way you're using 212 that please email it to
